Giovanna Cardillo
Before starting my career at Aviareps AG, the world's leading service provider in airline management, I studied at the ANGELL Akademie in Freiburg, where I started in 2002. Three years later I completed my studies with the Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management at the University of Brighton, UK. Now I work as a sales and marketing manager responsible for the Germany wide distribution of Jet Airways (India) Ltd, which is the largest private Indian airline and represented by Aviareps AG. At the end of my studies, I had a very clear idea of my future career: my aim was to work in the sales & marketing department of an international airline. Unfortunately, competition for marketing positions within the airline industry was very intense. But this did not deter me from what I really wanted and my studies at the ANGELL Akademie in Freiburg had provided me with the best educational foundations, which were absolutely essential for the start of my career.
In September 2005 I started as a Management Trainee with Aviareps and worked in various departments including human resources and accounting, before I got the opportunity to focus on sales & marketing. Upon completion of my traineeship, Aviareps offered me the position of Sales Executive for Air Astana, a Kazakh airline. After one and a half years, I was promoted to my current position.
From today's point of view I can say that my studies at the ANGELL Akademie Freiburg and the partner university in Brighton really helped me to build my early career. My time in Freiburg was not only challenging but also extremely enjoyable, thanks to the good friends that I made and still have contact with.
